Offered here is a specimen of rich, velvety blue, Rosasite on a contrasting gossan matrix!
Rosasite, originally discovered in Italy, is a carbonate mineral which is rich in copper and zinc. Rosasite was named for the type locality at the Rosas mine in Sardinia. It forms as fibrous clusters and botryoidal globulars and often grows along with red limonite. Rosasite can be found in the USA, Namibia, England, Mexico and in other locations in smaller amounts. It is best not to touch the Rosasite directly as this will damage the tiny fibrous crystals.
Origin: Mina Ojuela, Mapimi, Mexico
Dimensions (cm): 7.9 x 6.6 x 5.9
All specimens include a label bearing the mineral name and origin as well as historic label(s) for the specimen if any.
