This is a beautiful, hoppered bismuth crystal with intense iridescent coloring and is very aesthetic at all angles! Bismuth are laboratory grown crystals. And though they are not natural, are still very beautiful specimens and sought after by many mineral collectors. These crystals are usually made, or "grown" from commercial 99.99% pure bismuth pellets. High purity bismuth can form into distinctive and beautiful crystals. The crystals have a fairly rapid growth time and it is the rapid growth that causes hollow stepped forms which are called hopper crystals. The iridescent colors are due to a layer of bismuth oxide that forms on the surface of the crystals as they cool.
Origin: Germany
